PEARLS standing for the Political, Ethical, Administrative, Regulatory, Legal and Societal barriers and consequences.

During this panel we will hear from colleagues with expertise in understanding and addressing such barriers. We will discuss how together we can ensure we are better prepared for a future that maximises digital technology in public health.

Dr Pedro Ramos will open with a keynote on One Health in the Atlantic and the digital challenges ahead. Louise Holly will present proposals for a common governance approach to address PEARLS, followed by Ahmed Alhatlan, who will focus on governance for safer innovation, linking WHO principles to cross-border data sharing in the GCC and beyond. Finally, Prof Patty Kostkova will discuss the opportunities and risks of using social media and novel data sources in public health.
