Michael recently stepped down as CEO of Thomson Screening, having led the company from inception as a spin-out from City, St George’s, University of London to its successful acquisition by a private equity firm. Under his leadership, Thomson Screening developed SchoolScreener, a pioneering suite of applications used with millions of children in the UK and Internationally by Providers of Public Health Services. Applications streamline data management and workflow for services including immunisations, consent management, health and risk assessments, and screening for height, weight, eyesight, and hearing— without requiring clinical expertise for vision and hearing assessments.

Michael has led other University tech spinout companies, including UCL’s most successful spin-out, The Map of Medicine, a clinical decision support and pathway application originally developed at the Royal Free Hospital, London and licenced across the UK’s National Health Services through the National Programme for Information technology. His career includes senior leadership positions within a global media corporation, where he specialised in investing in and scaling technology and education ventures globally.

Michael has held a number of advisory roles, including chairing the Technology Commercialisation Fund at the University of Liverpool. He holds a Sloan Fellowship and MSc from London Business School.
