Dr Sefki Kolozali is a Lecturer in Embedded and Intelligent Systems at the University of Essex and leads the Internet of Things and Machine Intelligence Lab within the Future Health Technologies cluster. His research focuses on the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Edge Computing, multimodal machine learning, signal processing, time-series analysis, and data analytics, with particular applications in healthcare, public health, and intelligent sensing systems.
Prior to joining the University of Essex as a Lecturer, he held research positions at the University of Essex, King’s College London, and the University of Surrey. His work has spanned large-scale IoT analytics, environmental and health data science, wearable and mobile sensing technologies, and intelligent decision-support systems. He has contributed to several interdisciplinary projects exploring the use of AI and digital technologies to improve health monitoring, healthcare delivery, and population health outcomes.
Dr Kolozali is a member of the EPSRC Peer Review College and a registered expert with the European Commission. He serves as an Editor for PLOS ONE and regularly reviews for major funding bodies and international journals, including IEEE and ACM publications. His current research investigates AI-driven sensing technologies, multimodal data fusion, explainable and energy-efficient AI, and next-generation digital health solutions that leverage IoT and intelligent systems to support healthcare and public health.
