Prof Esteve Fernández

Esteve Fernández is the Secretary of Public Health of the Government of Catalonia since August 2024. He graduated in Medicine (MD) and obtained his MPH and PhD at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Before accepting his current responsibility, he was the director of the Cancer Prevention and Control Programme and WHO Collaborating Center for Tobacco Control of the Catalan Institute of Oncology in Barcelona. He is Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Barcelona. Professor Fernández led an international research programme in tobacco control, has been PI or collaborator in 50 research projects and published about 450 papers in peer reviewed journals.
