Emma Back has more than 30 years’ experience in the UK civil service, the voluntary sector, academia and consultancy. She has worked on a wide range of global health issues, including pharmaceutical R&D and access to medicines in low- and middle-income countries, antimicrobial resistance, maternal and child health, health policy and systems, climate and health, and water and sanitation. She has also worked as a university lecturer in global health. Emma holds degrees from the University of Oxford, the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and Birkbeck, and she is currently engaged in doctoral research at University College London related to pandemic preparedness.
