Floriana Grasso is a senior lecturer at the University of Liverpool and Director of Online-Learning for the Department of Computer Science there. She holds a PhD from Heriot Watt University (UK). She works on argumentation, persuasiveness, and affective communication, especially looking at extra-rational features (values, emotions), and on knowledge engineering, with a focus on processes and quality evaluations. She applies her research in the areas of public health informatics and education. She organised many workshops and events in the area of argumentation, persuasive technology and motivation. She is co-founder of the series of workshops on Computational Models of Natural Argument (CMNA) which runs yearly since 2000. She was one of the founders of the journal “Argument and Computation”, published by IOS Press.
