Marcello Gelormini holds a background in Public Economics with a specialization in Epidemiology. Since 2018, he has been serving as a Technical Officer in Surveillance and Data Analytics within the Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) programme at the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

In this role, Marcello leads efforts to enhance the quality and reliability of AMR data across the region, ensuring that surveillance systems produce actionable insights for public health decision-making. He is passionate about driving the adoption of innovative digital solutions and AI-driven technologies to modernize AMR surveillance, improve real-time data analysis, and strengthen early detection of emerging resistance threats.

Marcello’s work focuses on bridging the gap between data collection and intelligent interpretation, advocating for smarter, more connected systems that empower healthcare providers and policymakers to respond effectively to the evolving challenges of antimicrobial resistance.
